Q4W1 March 24-28

Monday

Objectives: understand the roles and responsibilities of a production team, understand hierarchy of team members

Questions: What are the roles and duties of the members of a production team? How does the backstage hierarchy work?

Activities: INTRO Production Crew Unit - PPT

Tuesday

Objectives: understand the roles and responsibilities of a production team, understand hierarchy of team members

Questions: What is the daily routine of crew members like? What procedural similarities exist between production teams and venues?

Activities:  Videos: spotlight on backstage careers, interviews with professional stage management teams

Wednesday

Objectives: understand role of stagehand, experience a quick scene change, analyze and sequence the moving parts of a given scene

Questions: How does choreography apply to stagehands? What is a logical sequence for loading in scenery? What challenges might a stagehand encounter during their work?

Activities: Stagehand lab: teams of 4 practice loading scenery as a stage crew, competing for accuracy and time

Activities: intro Production Crew Simulation project and rubric, begin to select crew roles

Q4W2

Monday

Objectives: Develop, produce, rehearse, and perform a DRY tech production according to preset cues; collaborate with team members to craft a narrative from technical scene changes, work in concert with peers as a production team

Activities:  Production Crew Simulation: vote for Directors, choose production teams, begin pre-production planning

Tuesday - Thursday

Objectives: Develop, produce, rehearse, and perform a DRY tech production according to preset cues; collaborate with team members to craft a narrative from technical scene changes, work in concert with peers as a production team

Activities: Production Crew Simulation: production planning and rehearsal

Friday

Activities: Production Crew Simulation: Dry Tech Performances! (in D bldg. gallery)

 

Q4W3

Repeat previous week’s project, but select new teams/roles, and move production from gallery into main theater. *Some students will work in the tech booth, others will be backstage.


Q4W4 April 14 - 18

Monday

Objectives: Interpret a text and produce a Concept Statement, develop a variety of original designs for a text, express a design concept across different technical domains, communicate the reasoning behind artistic choices

Activities: Introduce Independent Design Project (PPT). Read source text “Ship of Theseus: A short play in 6 scenes”

Questions: How does genre influence audience response? How do design choices affect theme and meaning? What about the source text inspires your interpretation?
